begin Patrick McFarland quotation:

This is one of the big problems with the phrase "closed
source". Not only does it sound all awkward and weenie, but it
doesn't mean anything. Guess what: sf.net hasn't released the source
code to their version in AGES! Their source code is all closed up
behind company walls and guys with no lips will lisp about the problem
forever!

But it isn't specifically *proprietary*, because they haven't
released the binaries either.
