So, at issue here is the fact that Canadians of Arab origin have been
_disappeared_ by the American border patrol. Literally, taken into a
big building somewhere and never heard from again. Not right after
9/11; some people disappeared in October of this year.
When Canada officially complained ("Um... could we please have our
citizens back, please?"), the US government called them soft on
terrorism. "You hockey-pucks should be willing to detain your own
citizens without trial, or the terrorists have already won!"
The US government puts Americans and non-Americans in big boxes and
never lets them go. No trial, no deportation, nothing. There are
people still missing from the sweeps of _last_ October. It's not just
shameful; it's probably a crime against humanity. It's Gulag
It creeps my ass out.
