I ran a list at egroups until 1998, when I suddenly started getting
replies to list messages from confused gentlemen in thailand asking why I
was sending them email.

I forwarded these messages to egroups admin staff, who never responded.
Of course.  Why the hell would they?  The service is free.

So I went out and got some of my own innurnet real estate.  Since then
everything has been quicker, easier AND MORE FUN!
