Ha! What a fool that Monkey Master is! We all know that apt was
ACTUALLY designed to see exactly how high a teetering tower of
recursive layers of GUIs on top of dispatching apps on top of shells
on top of Perl libraries could be implemented just to unpack a gzipped
tar file and run a couple of enclosed shell scripts with predetermined
names.
The answer, by the way, is: A LOT!
An unexpected side effect of the project has turned out to be that
every young Debian cowboy with a yeoman's knowledge of ncurses and a
megalomaniac personality has briefly put his hand to making a
half-baked, doughy "replacement for dselect" before quitting the
Project and leaving the golem-like creation to bit-rot on the shelf of
destiny. What a boon that's been! Without the apt roach motel there,
man, those dumb egotistical bastards might actually get themselves
into trouble.
