x2x is designed to allow two displays to be used as one, similar to
Xinerama.  Unlike Xinerama, it uses a bunch of additional equipment
(an entire computer and an Ethernet segment) to do the interconnect,
rather than in-memory transfers over PCI.

If you're running x2x across an Ethernet you're sharing with other
people, it's not going to be as zippy as Xinerama.  Xinerama is
currently hobbled by poor driver support and a tricky config.  A
no-brainer solution like x2x *is* useful.  I'd prefer to do things the
right way, but x2x will do, for now.
