[CrackMonkey] Denying access to irc.slashnet.org

After inviting people to a performance art event
 tonight here in Cambridge somebody mistook it as the
 usual spam and attacked with a ban on the channel and
 then denied access to irc.slashnet.org

1. Why not an irc with due process for participants and
    greater accountability for operators any of whom
    might be merely misguided with no malintent?...

2. How do you recover access when you don't know
    who's denying it?...
