Yeah, because the far-distant past and shit is never relevant to our
present-day lives.

I mean, what did people 18 months ago understand about *my* life,
today? Could they even conceive of the kind of hurly-burly pressures
of modern life, the technologies, the opportunities? Listening to
the voices of late 1998 across the distant chasm of time, one has to
wonder: how can I possibly relate to the peoples of that ancient era?
