Being a person who manages to stay on his good side, I find Erik's style of
rhetoric amusing and self-consciouly over the top. Being a person who I
suspect he would fry to a crisp within two Usenet posts, you probably think
he's a nut.
I don't like what he does at all. He drives people away from Lisp with his
outbursts. It's not idiots, or spammers that increase the noise-to-signal
ratio in the Lisp newsgroups, it's his flames. When I come across any of
his flames, I know I can safely kill the rest of the thread because there's
nothing of value left to read.
(Not that I don't think he's a nut, I just think he a likable nut. As well
as a hacker to be respected.)
I would never turn down a chance to use his code. He's written a lot of
good code. Of everything he says and does, that's the only thing that has
lasting value.
